WHO BUILDS THESE CANOES
Our canoes are built by people who like to paddle. Headwaters Canoes is owned by Hugh Stewart who started paddling in the 1950's, guiding in the 1960's, recanvassing in the 1970's and building in the 1980's. He continues to travel in Northern Canada each summer. His 45 years of practical experience in widely varying terrain is invaluable in canoe selection, building and maintenance.
Hugh's co-workers, Dave McBurney, Rod Crawley, Mike Robinson
and Suzanne Evans all have special places they retreat to each
summer for paddling adventures in canoes built in the Headwaters
shop. We know how our canoes are standing up and performing.
